Time check, it's 20: 40 GMT. It's Thursday evening in Ghana. I know there are quite a number of radio stations doing morning - afternoon and evening Political shows. They sometimes invite party heads to come and spice the show whilst the callers do most of the jibing and sentiments display through phone calls and txt messages etc.
The main objective of Leadership, Effectiveness Accountability and Professionalism geared at coaching the younger generation about the glorious art of good leadership with a view to replace the current status quos in African leadership, as well, to inject the monetary discipline of budget management in leadership, is not only a high time reasoning but also an obligation on the present generation of the youth to embark upon. "HOW DO WE THE YOUTH EVEN BEGIN A JOURNEY OUR ELDERS COULDN'T DRAW THE PATH?" FAITH...
I share the line of thinking of imparting skills and vision of leadership, effectiveness and accountability to the youths who are future leaders(or so we believe), for the fact that the required moral norms of effective leadership have to be acquired and learnt over time, they are not just to bump in spontaneously into the leader.
I know for sure that the hosts of these political shows in Ghana are well-established personalities society respect and same goes to their pundits. My small worry; "Are These Pundits And Show Hosts Not Relevant? Don't Their Say Affect The Development of Ghana?" Since Adam, these guys have held political talks down, addressing all the acclaimed important issues yet nothing seems to be going their way...or their voice only ends on Radio/TV?
Sometimes I'm forced to believe they only enjoy political discussions and not the need to make their talk-walk or perhaps they are just doing a show which doesn't necessarily have to be taken serious by gov't.
So after all the insults and fights on air, what really happens to loopholes left by the current gov't, past and yet-to-be gov't. How long will these radio shows continue to run without having any proper impact on the menace the country faces? Aren't you the listener tired of hearing the same old "Mahama couldn't do this, Kuffour did that and JJ was not where to be found conversations?"
We also love these shows and care less whether it solves our problems or not, so far as we can send insulting txt messages and phone-in to insult one or two people, life goes on! Eni y3 ny3!
All our favourite radio stations and shows have joined the political talk-shows yet WE NO DEY SEE DEVELOPMENT. These same people get awarded for "something-something" personality of the year and they come back to sit and blame gov't whilst waiting to be nominated again for blaming people.
It's amazing how these gurus explain their great ideas yet will not make efforts to implement it or maybe gov't doesn't care, but wait, it's a certain gov't's task so yeah relax na "Madakraa." Eni y3 ny3! Good Evening.
